The 8-speed M Steptronic Sport transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: from extremely dynamic to particularly comfortable, and smooth to fuel-saving. You can shift manually using the gear lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, or put the vehicle into automatic mode and let the transmission do the work.

The M Carbon ceramic brake delivers braking power even more directly. The brake is non-corrosive and tolerates even more heat. It impresses with extremely minimal wear and contributes to a lower vehicle weight, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The special technical equipment is visible through calipers in the colour Gold matt with M logo on the outside. Due to specific material properties, increased operating noise may occur during braking, e.g. in case of prolonged, low load or in wet conditions shortly before vehicle standstill. This design-related noise generation can be avoided by braking the brake dry in case of wetness or loading the brake more heavily after a long low braking load. The influence of wetness and road salt, e.g. after using car washes, dew overnight, driving in the rain, etc., the braking effect can correspond to that of a conventional braking system. This reduced braking power can be compensated for with a greater pressure on the pedal. The functional noises have no influence on the performance, operational safety and stability of the brake. Bedingt durch die materialspezifischen Eigenschaften kann es beim Bremsen zu erhöhten Funktionsgeräuschen kommen, z. B. bei längerer geringer Belastung oder bei Nässe kurz vor Fahrzeugstillstand. Diese konstruktionsbedingte Geräuschentwicklung kann dadurch vermieden werden, dass die Bremse nach Nässebeaufschlagung trockengebremst oder nach längerer geringer Bremsbelastung wieder stärker belastet wird. Durch Einfluss von Nässe und Streusalz, z. B. nach Nutzung von Waschanlagen, Betauung über Nacht, Regenfahrt etc., kann die Bremswirkung der einer konventionellen Bremsanlage entsprechen. Diese reduzierte Bremswirkung kann bei Bedarf mit höherem Pedaldruck ausgeglichen werden. Die Funktionsgeräusche haben keinen Einfluss auf Leistungsfähigkeit, Betriebssicherheit und Standfestigkeit der Bremse.

The mirror caps, M gill and rear spoiler in high-gloss Black give the BMW M8 Competition Convertible an even more dynamic appearance. With the optional M Carbon exterior package, all elements are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).

20" M light alloy wheels Star-spoke style 813 M Bicolour Jet Black with mixed tyres, gloss-milled, wheel size front 9.5J x 20 with 275/35 R20 tyres, wheel size rear 10.5J x 20 with 285/35 R20 tyres.

The multi-adjustable M Sport seats with bucket seat character and partly integrated headrest provide excellent lateral support for you and your front passenger. In addition, the backrest width can be individually adjusted. Their special design with illuminated M logo highlights the vehicle's athletic capabilities.

M xDrive with Active M Differential guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. You can choose between the drive variants 4WD, 4WD Sport and – in DSC-off mode – 2WD.

The M Sport exhaust system delivers a dynamic sound that can be modified via the integrated exhaust valve mechanism. The SPORT and SPORT+ programmes, which can be selected via the Driving dynamics buttons, are accentuated by an even more intense engine sound, while the comfort-oriented programme prioritises more discreet engine acoustics.

The M kidney frame in high-gloss chrome and the corresponding M8 emblem emphasise the dynamic front end and give the vehicle an even sportier expression.

The M gill in the front side panel and the integrated clasp with M8 emblem are finished in high-gloss chrome and add sporty, exclusive accents to the side view.

The M lights Shadow Line include a black surround over the main headlights for a dark and sporty appearance.

The intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system smoothly and variably distributes drive power to the front and rear wheels for added traction, driving dynamics and safety in every driving situation. For even better agility, the electronically controlled power distribution for instance counterbalances oversteer or understeer on bends.

Integral Active Steering combines support that varies based on the steering angle on the front axle, and rear wheels that also contribute to steering. At lower speeds, it offers greater manoeuvrability and agility by turning the rear wheels opposite the front wheels. Beginning around 60 to 80 km/h, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels, to increase driving stability and comfort.

Both the M kidney grille and the M exterior mirrors are finished in Black high-gloss as standard. With the optional Carbon Exterior package, both parts are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) and are therefore lighter than the standard production versions.

The standard M leather steering wheel including multifunction buttons, an M badge and an integrated driver’s airbag is featured in three-spoke design. With a reinforced steering wheel rim in 'Walknappa' Black leather, with exclusive stitching in M colours and contoured thumb rests, it provides a sporty, direct steering sensation – not least thanks to integrated shift paddles.

The BMW Individual softtop in Marine Blue blends harmoniously into the dynamic lines of the vehicle and can be ordered via BMW Individual Manufaktur. One of the outstanding properties of this high-quality softtop is its excellent noise insulation.

The M specific instrument cluster allows you to display additional information for particularly sporty driving. If you have selected the TRACK driving mode* for race track use, you can view the boost pressure, tyre pressures and temperatures as well as the G-force of lateral and longitudinal acceleration on the instrument cluster. * TRACK driving mode exclusively for M8 Competition.

M Setup* allows you to configure various driving dynamics parameters such as engine, transmission and steering characteristics, damper settings, DSC control intensity or the power distribution of the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system according to your individual requirements. * Available for the BMW M8 Competition Convertible and BMW M8 Convertible.

Driving Assistant Professional offers optimum comfort and safety during critical or monotonous traffic situations. Apart from the contents of the Driving Assistant, it also includes Steering and Lane Control Assistant with extended functions, Emergency Stop Assistant and Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision protection.

The Parking Assistant Plus makes parking and manoeuvring the vehicle easier. It features among others the Surround View system including Top View, Panorama View, Remote 3D View, as well as a lateral parking aid, the emergency braking function Active Park Distance Control, BMW Drive Recorder, Parking Assistant with longitudinal and lateral guidance and Reversing Assistant.
